■ジェリー・ヤン マイクロソフトＣＥＯ誕生の予感
先週金曜日、マイクロソフトがヤフーに対して買収提案をした。
マイクロソフトは、今までにも何回かヤフーに対して買収提案をし、その度に断られていた。
業界にいた人間として、「それはそうだろう、ヤフーとしては、あえてマイクロソフトの傘下にはいるメリットが無いだろう」といつも思ってきた。
しかし、今回はどうなるか判らない。
彼らにとって無視できない規模に急成長し、さらに成長し続ける共通の敵の存在があるからだ。
共通の敵とはもちろんGoogleである。
米国ヤフーは検索エンジン＋広告という基本的な組合せが同じビジネスモデルでGoogleとぶつかり、業績不振、株価低迷といった状態であり、マイクロソフトのドル箱であるＷＯＲＤやEXCELといったオフィス向けソフトウェアをGoogleは無料でぶつけてきた。
ヤフーの危機感は相当なものであり、カリスマ性の高い創業者であるジェリー・ヤン氏をＣＥＯにし、広告代理店だったオーバーチェア社を買収する、はたまたリストラを敢行するといった形で対応に追われている状況である。
その一方で、マイクロソフトは創業者ビル・ゲイツの引退を宣言したところだ。
もし、今回の買収が成立したとして、果たしてＧｏｏｇｌｅの圧倒的な成長スピードに対抗することが可能であろうか？
そのためには、優秀でカリスマ性の高いリーダーが必要である。
ビル・ゲイツのカリスマ性は抜群であるが、引退に関するニュースを見る限り、たとえマイクロソフトの経営が傾くようなことがあったとしても復帰はないだろう。
３０代の創業者が現役で活躍しているGoogleに対抗するには、やはりもっと若いリーダーが必要だ。
ビル・ゲイツにしても、現マイクロソフトのＣＥＯであるスティーブ・バルマーにしても、もう５０代だ。
そこで、今年４０歳になるジェリー・ヤン氏の登場である。
ジェリー・ヤン新ＣＥＯの下、マイクロソフトの潤沢な資金を惜しみなくヤフーをベースとするＷＥＢサービス開発につぎ込み、現在のドル箱商品群を個々のハードウェアにインストールして利用するパッケージ商品から、ＷＥＢ上で動作するサービス商品として作り変え、広告ビジネスをはじめとするGoogle社の野望を押さえ込み対抗する。
そんなストーリーがあってもいいのではないか。
個人的にGoogleが嫌いというわけではない。
その志はすばらしいし、やることなすこと、いちいち的を得ていて、彼らの描く未来がどんどん実現されていく。
本当にすばらしいことだ。賞賛に値する。
が、このままGoogleの一人勝ちというのはどうも気に入らないし、抜け目が無さ過ぎる点に、どこか抵抗感を覚える。
オープンソースの利点を最大限に傍受しながら、エリート意識といってもいい傲慢さでインターネットと現実世界の両方を切り開いて進んで行くその姿に危うさを感じる。
そんな思いを抱くのは自分が年をとったためだろうか？
いずれにしても、マイクロソフト、ヤフーの進化にも期待したい。
もし、ヤフー買収が成立した時、２００８年がＷＥＢ新時代の始まりの年だったと言われるようになるかもしれない。

总之，也期待想微软，雅虎的进化。
说不定变得一般认为如果，雅虎收购成立了的时候，2008年是WEB新时代的开端的年龄。
